“Makita DHS680 18V brushless circular saw with 5Ah battery and charger I bought this saw to replace one damaged floorboard. It did that beautifully. It also cut the sawhorse, which I had set up exactly where the plank needed cutting. That one's on me, not the saw. It's a 165 mm cordless circular saw with a brushless motor spinning at 5,000 rpm. It rips through timber, plywood and MDF like they've personally offended it. It cuts up to 57 mm deep, which is plenty for decking, framing and floorboards. It also bevels up to 50 degrees, so you can do angled cuts and feel like a real carpenter for about four seconds, until you measure it. The electric brake stops the blade almost instantly when you let go of the trigger. That's genuinely reassuring, and it's the one part of this story that didn't need a trip to the hardware store. It's cordless too, so there's no extension lead to trip over, or, as a friend of a friend once did, to cut clean in half. It's great for decking, fence repairs, shelving, cutting sheets down to fit the car, building that raised garden bed you've been talking about since 2023, and cutting out whatever damage your last DIY project caused.
