Prices and fees
Lenders set their own prices. Renters pay exactly what they see, and Grannen's fee comes out of the lender's side.
How prices work
Every listing has three prices: a day, 3 days and a week. For any number of days, you pay the cheapest mix of those. A week price works as a cap: 5 days never costs more than a week.
Say a listing is $20 a day, $50 for 3 days and $80 a week:
- 1 day: $20
- 2 days: $40
- 3 days: $50
- 5 days: $80
- 7 days: $80
- 10 days: $130
Days count inclusively (pick up Thursday, return Saturday is 3 days), and a booking can be up to 30 days. The exact total shows on the listing as soon as you pick your days.
No fees for renters
The price on the listing is what you pay. No booking fee, no card fee, nothing added at the end. If something comes back damaged, damage cover can add a charge, but only after we've looked at it. Damage cover.
Grannen's fee
Grannen keeps 15% of each booking, taken from the lender's side. It covers running the site and the card processing, so there's nothing else to pay.
For a $30 booking, the renter pays $30, Grannen keeps $4.50 and the lender gets $25.50. The list flow and every request show exactly what you'd get.
If a booking is refunded, the fee goes back in the same proportion: a half refund returns half of Grannen's fee too. Grannen takes no fee on damage charges; those go to the lender in full.
Setting your price
When you list, we suggest a day price for the category. It's a starting point, not market data, so change it freely. We then suggest about 2.4 times the day price for 3 days and 4 times for a week, which you can also change.
Longer rentals have to work out cheaper per day than single days, so 3 days must cost less than 3 single days, and a week less than 7. Cheaper longer rentals get more bookings.
