Pick-up and return

Grannen is gear from people nearby, so pick-up is usually a short walk or drive. Here's how it goes.

The address and the map

Lenders only give us their suburb, never their address. Listings show the suburb and a circle about 800 m across around its centre, so renters can tell roughly how far it is. Every listing in a suburb shows the same circle.

The lender shares the exact spot in the chat once the booking is confirmed. Photos you upload have their location data removed.

Arranging pick-up

Once you're booked, agree a time and place in the chat. Pick-up is on your first day and the return on your last, at times that suit you both. Grannen doesn't set times, so be clear about them and stick to them. Running late? Message them.

At the handover

  • Show how it works, and try it together if it has a motor or a battery.
  • Go through what's included (the listing has the list) so nothing's missing later.
  • Both of you: take a few photos of its condition. If anything's disputed later, they settle it. Reporting a problem.
  • Keep chatting on Grannen rather than by text, so there's a record.

Giving it back

  • Bring it back by your last day, at the time you agreed.
  • Clean, charged or fuelled like you got it, with everything it came with.
  • If something broke, say so at the handover. The lender has a couple of days after the return day to report a problem.
