How lending works
Your stuff has a summer too. List what you're not using and neighbours pay to borrow it.
Listing your gear
List your gear takes a few minutes. We ask only what you know:
- A name and a category. We guess the category from the name; change it if it's off.
- Photos, up to 8. The first one is the cover. Daylight beats flash. Location data is stripped from them.
- Your price for a day, 3 days and a week. Setting your price.
- Roughly what it cost new. Renters never see it. It sets how much damage cover can charge if something goes wrong. Damage cover.
- What's included and a note, both optional.
- Your suburb. Never your address. What renters see.
Going live
Your listing goes public once you've set up payouts, so we know where to send your money. Until then only you can see it. Setting up payouts.
Answering requests
When someone asks for some days, we email you. The request shows their dates, their message and what you'd get. Chat with them first if you like.
- Accept: we charge their card and the days are booked. Accept only if you can definitely lend it then.
- Decline: they're not charged, no hard feelings.
Requests don't hold days, so two people can ask for the same ones; you pick. A request you don't answer before its first day expires.
Getting paid
You get the price minus Grannen's 15% fee. The renter pays exactly your price, nothing on top. How the fee works. Your share is sent when you accept, and lands in your bank account a couple of days later. When you get paid.
If the renter cancels, you may keep some or none of it, depending on how close to pick-up it is. Cancellations.
Handing it over
Share where to find you in the chat once it's booked, show them how it works, and take a few photos at the handover. Handover tips.
Changing or removing a listing
Change anything from Edit listing on your listing, or from Your listings in the account menu. Removing a listing hides it straight away. Bookings you've already accepted still go ahead, so cancel those first if you can't lend it any more.
