Payments and payouts
Card payments are handled by our payments partner. Grannen never sees or stores your card details.
Your card is saved, not charged
When you send a request, you add a card (or use the one you saved last time). It's saved with our payments partner, not charged. Your bank might ask you to confirm it right then; that's a normal security check.
Charged when the lender accepts
We charge the full price when the lender accepts, and email you that you're booked. If they decline, or you withdraw first, nothing is charged.
The same saved card is used for damage cover, only if something goes wrong and only after we've looked at it. Damage cover.
Bank checks and declined cards
The charge happens when the lender accepts, which can be hours or days after you sent the request. By then your bank may decline it (not enough funds, a card limit, a new card) or want you to confirm it yourself, which it can't ask while you're not there.
Either way, we email you and the booking page asks you to pay. Use the same card or another one. The days stay held for you in the meantime, but the lender can call it off if the payment doesn't come.
Setting up payouts
Lenders set up payouts once, from Payouts in the account menu. It takes a few minutes on our payments partner's secure form. You'll need:
- your BSB and account number
- your date of birth and home address
- maybe a photo of your driver licence or passport
Payment rules mean we have to check who we're paying, the same as any marketplace. Your listings go public once it's done. Stuck in review? Email info@grannen.com.au.
When you get paid
Your share (the price minus Grannen's 15%) is sent to your payouts account when you accept a booking. Payouts to your bank run every day, about 2 days behind, so it usually lands a couple of days after you accept. Your bank can take a little longer to show it.
If the renter cancels in time for a refund, the refunded part comes back out of your payouts balance. Cancellations.
